Citizen Science:
The Southeast Florida Action Network (SEAFAN) relies on citizen science by providing a reporting system for individuals who come in contact with marine incidents, bleached corals, and tagged corals. SEAFAN covers coral reefs from St. Lucia Inlet in Martin County to Biscayne National Park in Miami-Dade County. Our lab uses SEAFAN to tag our corals that we monitor and treat for disease. The tags are yellow and can be found at the base of many corals. If you have seen any of these corals, take a picture and upload to their website.
Any reports from citizen scientists about the corals we are monitoring will be sent to us directly informing our lab about changes that might have recently occurred.
